Every shop misses calls while everyone is cutting. An AI front desk promises to fix that. Before you trust one with your phone line, it helps to know what the job really is.
Answering is the easy part
Picking up the phone and sounding friendly is table stakes. The real job is doing what the caller wants, start to finish: booking, moving or canceling an appointment on your live calendar while they are still on the line.
What Sunny does today
Sunny is the AI built into Papos. Today it:
- Answers your shop line day and night, in English or Spanish
- Books on the live calendar while the caller is on the line
- Moves an appointment to a new day, time or barber, and frees the old slot
- Cancels on the call and frees the chair for someone else
- Knows returning clients by their number and greets them by name
- Lets you watch every call live and take over in one tap
What it does not do yet
- Confirming the booking with the client's card on file is rolling out.
- Follow-ups, like a rebooking nudge when a client is due, are coming.
- On your website, Sunny's chat answers questions. Booking by chat is not built yet.
When a person is better
A good AI front desk knows when to step aside. Sunny hands the call to your team when a person is better, and you can take over any call from the dashboard in one tap.
Recording and privacy
Calls are recorded, and callers are told at the start of the call. Phone tools and recordings sit behind your secure Papos sign-in.
What it costs
Sunny is included on every Papos plan with 300 call minutes a month per shop. Extra minutes are billed at cost.
Five questions to ask any AI receptionist
- Does it book on my real calendar while the caller is on the line, or does it text a link?
- Can I watch a call live and take over?
- Does it know my regulars?
- Does it speak the languages my clients speak?
- What does it do when it does not know the answer?
